IATC workshops are where coaches & athletes of every sport, every level and ability will discover and benefit from precise, cutting edge, efficient, sport training and performance technologies.
Background:
Since the creation of the Esalen Sports Center in 1972 hundreds of mind/body/sport workshops and conferences have been presented throughout the world. What has emerged over the past 40 years are teaching methods that promote flow, and optimum sport performance, and a sophisticated sport specific integral mindset approach for athletic coaching and mentoring. In this workshop, you will be given tools based on this extensive knowledge that will enhance your athletic development and enjoyment.
Friday, June 7th, 7:00pm to 9:00pm– Introduction to the IATC Methodology by Spino and Meggyesy and potential guest speaker.
Saturday, June 8th, 8:30am to 3:30pm, workshop: During this daylong experiential workshop Spino and Meggyesy will introduce, demonstrate, and help each participant apply specific mindset approaches to daily workouts, overall training and competition. Techniques and mindset approaches combining active visualization, guided imagery, energy work and the Big Mind’ perspective and approach to personal knowledge and development will be taught.
Speakers:
Dr. Michael Spino, who formulated his theories of sport and health at the famed Esalen Sports Center in California, was a driving force during the build-up to the Atlanta 1996 Centennial Olympic Games He is the author of six books on the mental and physical aspects of sport, and a coach for over a hundred All-American runners at Georgia Tech and Life University, where his teams won 12 national cross country and track championships. He was chosen NAIA national Coach of the Year three times. Dr. Spino, also a fellow of OPUS NOVUM, presently, is a collaborator with his Ph.D. Alma Mater Lille2 University in France developing research projects and faculty and student exchange linkages.
David Meggyesy is a former seven-year NFL linebacker and author of Out of Their League, selected by Sports Illustrated as one of the 100 best sports books ever written. For 25 years Meggyesy served as Western Director of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA). He is co-founder of IATC, founding member of the Sports, Energy, Consciousness Group, and Integral Transformative Practice–Sports. He also co-founded and was co-director of the Esalen Sports Center in and is Board President of Athletes United for Peace. Meggyesy is an associate of Jean Houston, and a facilitator of Genpo Merzel’s Zen-Big Mind process.
